Following a competitive pitch which involved an exhaustive brand audit and strategy presentation, Studiomoo were successfully commissioned to deliver Waterscan’s new brand identity.

We designed and developed a purpose-led brand to help drive the future of Waterscan’s role in sustainable water management and create a clear and simple distinction in a complicated sector.

The finalised brand is a bold, bright, fresh visual identity that reflects Waterscan’s focus on simplicity, with a positive, honest tone of voice that better communicates the brand’s open and optimistic personality.

THE ART OF CHICHESTER EXHIBITION

Chichester’s Novium Museum approached us to create an exhibition that celebrates all genres of art from the District in last 60 years.

Our concept was to tell develop mid century inspired brand that avoided using a montage of photos and instead represented each genre with an icon.

The typography was a mix of lettering from all the different collaborators. It was important to play with scale to avoid the exhibition to look like a book on the walls!

The coloured zones and iconography help the visitor navigate quite a large amount of content.

Creating an event brand for a spectacular flower festival.

The Festival of Flowers is a four day spectacular set in Chichester’s almost 950 year old Cathedral. It is a biennial event which has raised over £1.2 million towards the cost of restoration work to the Cathedral, over the past 22 years. This year the Festival’s theme is based on the concept of ‘creation’.

We developed a visual identity inspired by the beauty of nature, with photo-realistic botanical illustrations and a fresh colour palette. The brand is composed to feel like an explosion of life, representing ‘creation’. Referencing vintage travel posters, the design includes the cathedral as well as items representing the market and food aspect of the event, it holds together with a strongly identifiable typographic style.

CATALOGUE

Hugo & Hudson are a UK based company offering a wide range of dog accessories. They sell collars, leads, harness, jackets, bandanas, bow ties and beds in a range of exciting styles and materials.

As a rapidly growing business, H&H came to us wanting a more professional looking catalogue and a look and feel that would position them as quintessentially British for their expansion into the US.

As fellow dog owners this was a joy to work on and the new catalogue has been extremely well received.

TOP FLOOR REFURBISHMENT

Milestones is a living history museum in Basingstoke operated by Hampshire Cultural Trust and celebrates its 20th Anniversary in 2020.

We were thrilled to win the refurbishment project and give their top floor a complete facelift which was officially unveiled at a special launch event in February 2020.

The key requirements of the refurbishment:

– To showcase historical objects from the Hampshire county collections. Household items from yesteryear are displayed in bespoke made cabinets to celebrate the museum’s unique heritage and create a more integrated space.

– To ensure the top floor felt more connected to the museum without being at odds with the architecture it is housed within.

– Improve the visitor’s first impression and welcome with new exterior signage, revised entrance layout and contemporary new welcome desk.

– Complete overhaul of the shop with custom built shop fittings and guidance on VM to bring the retail offering inline with some of the UK’s top museums.

– Café rebrand and redesign, working with catering specialists to deliver better customer flow, mixed seating, increased covers and an overall improved ambience to encourage longer dwell times and increased spend.

– Update the Audio Desk area.

– Create a new vintage tea rooms brand and tent on the museum floor.

MYSTERY WARRIOR EXHIBITION

The Novium Museum is Chichester District's award-winning museum and home to The Mystery Warrior Exhibition. Discovered 12 years ago, the ‘mystery warrior’ and has been dated to around 50BC and is the most elaborately equipped warrior grave ever found in England.

It was a privilege to work on such an historically important project and help bring the story of the Mystery Warrior to life. We were fortunate enough to work closely with the British Museum and many others in order to sympathetically display the remains and artefacts, take a look at the behind the scenes film shot by Millstream Productions.

Taking inspiration from the incredible helmet, we introduced a strong graphic identity for the exhibition that could be applied throughout. The colour palette was sampled from the artefacts and we introduced typography that had a Celtic/Roman look and feel.

The exhibition itself was a mix of floor to ceiling vinyls, information panels, childrens’ trail and artefacts. We created a space that was both atmospheric, interactive and informative.

Sadly the exhibition is not open to visitors during the covid-19 pandemic but will hopefully open again soon.

BRAND ASSETS

Hyvve is a brand-new management consultancy focussed on the SME recruitment sector. They support the executive management teams of recruitment consultancies to scale their organisations, grow revenues, increase profitability and maximise shareholder value.

Detail Design Consultants (wearedetail.co.uk) were commissioned to define the culture and personality of the business – designing a logo and accompanying brand guidelines, based on the concept of well-ordered, strategic working practices with room for expansion and growth.

Working as part of their senior creative team, Kalsi further enhanced the Hyvve brand image by creating a suite of supporting brand assets, including stationery, presentation materials, social assets and internal marketing communication tools. Based on the client requirements, we also designed their contemporary and cohesive, single page website.

BRAND PLATFORM & WEBSITE

The Weald & Downland is an independent Living Museum that rescues and conserves historic buildings. StudioMoo were brought in to revive the W&D brand, produce a new set of brand guidelines, update their marketing collateral and prepare for their 50th Anniversary year in 2020.

Having established the brand proposition, tone of voice and how to balance conservation with commercialism we produced an extensive set of guidelines which introduced a new creative platform. This has breathed new life into the existing logo and enables the brand to communicate effectively, consistently and creatively across all channels.

Following on from the brand work, two integral customer touch points were the shop, welcome desk and the website, all of which have had a complete overhaul. The website is an essential commercial tool for the museum and helps drive visitor numbers, memberships and donations. Now it is fit for purpose, on brand and offers a far better user experience whilst encouraging repeat visits.

The shop has been decluttered and re-imagined into a quality, retail destination whilst the welcome desk now reflects the brand personality and offers visitors a clear and friendly welcome to the museum.

Meoncross School are part of the Cognita Schools Group and required a new approach for their pupil recruitment campaign. As a school that was focussed on their coastal location, we developed a campaign that made the most of this. A photoshoot and videoshoot were essential to creating a strong visual campaign that stood out from it’s competitors. Numbers went up and it was a huge success! Now in its second year, the campaign has evolved to echo their defined brand vision and values.

The Barn, Little London is a lifestyle venue which celebrates quality food, community and wellness whilst supporting emerging brands and independent retail. 90% of their produce comes from a 30-40 mile radius of Chichester.

We have enjoyed being part of this exciting, local brand’s story and to watch it grow and flourish. It has now grown to also include a second venue, The Barn’s Townhouse.

StudioMoo developed the brand for The Barn and The Barn’s Larder and rolled out the creative platform for all menus, collateral and signage.

CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN

OFFICE are a global, leading edge, fashion footwear retailer, providing style conscious customers with innovative shoes to suit every occasion. Their customer base is largely female, 16-25 years old and are very ‘social channel savvy’.

Working as the interim lead creative with the OFFICE design team, Kalsi designed and oversaw the stylised ‘look and feel’ of the Christmas 2019 campaign. ‘Shoephoria – The ecstasy of buying shoes’ was the playful campaign message which took inspiration from the acclaimed, stylish teen drama series ‘Euphoria’.

A beautiful, sparkly aesthetic in a clean and toned down palette which played with iridescents, reflections and shimmering fabrics, combined with unusual and playful model poses to create interest and impact. Mirrors and metallic surfaces translated effectively to store windows, reflecting the lights and decor to maximise shimmer and sparkle. Striking, bold and electric make up on the models further enhanced the creative look and feel to the season.

The glittering omni-channel campaign, was cohesively executed through digital advertising, store windows, POS and animated sequences on large in-store screens, Instagram stories and their new website.

AGAINST LITTER CAMPAIGN

CIPR PRide Awards WINNER – Gold Community Relations campaign of the year 2018.

The brief was to create a campaign that tackles the problem of littering. It needed to be direct and encourage the public to report people seen littering. The campaign identified and targeted several key areas of littering that needed to be addressed; general littering, cigarette ends, fly tipping and dog fouling.

The first phase of the campaign was rolled out across online and offline advertising, postcards, posters, banners, a gazebo and magazine features. As with all Chichester District Council initiatives, the campaign assets are handed over to their internal artwork team. Due to its success it continued into a second phase where the campaign involved into ‘Adopt and Area’, this was conceived as a vehicle to enrol campaign ambassadors and has been massively successfully with over 100 areas adopted within the first 2 months.

Phase 3 then focussed on the problem of dog fouling and encourages people to sign up to a ‘Green Dog Walker’ Scheme. Our office dog, Melios is featured!

The campaign will continue into the new year with phase 4 tackling the issue of fly tipping.

ELIZABETH ILIVE EXHIBITION

This year the National Trust is commemorating 100 years since the Act of Parliament that first gave women the vote with a year-long celebration of women’s legacies called Women and Power. Petworth House is telling the stories of five influential women whose lives span across four centuries. Central to this is the Elizabeth Ilive: A Woman Ahead of her Time exhibition.

StudioMoo was approached to bring the story of Elizabeth Ilive to life and what a joy this project was! Within a dedicated temporary exhibition space we were able to tell her story and create a re-imagining of her Georgian laboratory. For the exhibition branding, we proposed the concept of leading with the words that described her many roles: Mistress, Mother, Wife, Countess, Inventor, Pioneer, Patron, this was then rolled out across the exhibition promotional material.

The exhibition itself was a mix of floor to ceiling vinyls, props and National Trust artefacts. To create the graphic walls we were lucky enough to get access to the Faraday Museum within the Royal Institution and take shots of their Georgian laboratory. We also had fun sourcing suitable props for the exhibition by referring to historic images and Ilive’s receipts of items purchased. We created a space that was both atmospheric, interactive and informative.

The exhibition will run until the end of 2018.

THE TIM PEAKE EXHIBITION

Museum and Heritage Awards Winner – Temporary or Touring Exhibition of the Year 2017

Chichester’s Novium Museum provides a wonderful place where local and international visitors can soak up the rich heritage of the city of Chichester and its surrounding areas.

The Novium approached Buzzword (and Janice as their Creative Director) with the exciting and unique task of designing and developing an interactive, informative and impactful Tim Peake exhibition. To allow visitors of all ages to follow Tim’s astronomical adventure – from his birth and formative years here in Chichester, through his career so far, culminating in his extraordinary mission into outer space.

Our concept was to tell the story of the man (a local hero) and his journey into space. ‘An Extraordinary Journey’ presents the journey of Tim Peake’s life, through childhood, career, astronaut training and finally culminating in his time on board the International Space Station. Tim himself is very keen to build on the imagination and aspirations of our children and education plays an important role in this exhibition. It visually combines the factual with the fun, creating an interactive and inspiring space which ultimately elevates the visit to more of an experience – a journey – rather than just another exhibition.

It was an absolute honour that Tim himself came to visit and that the exhibition then went on to win a prestigious Museums + Heritage award.

Christmas is the biggest season of the retailing year. For FatFace Christmas could generate as much as 50% of its annual profits. We were tasked by the CEO to create a multi-channel campaign that captured the feeling of Christmas in a bold, striking and differentiated way.

Typical lifestyle story telling was replaced with a more graphic, conceptual approach to the campaign. Graphic elements contrasted softer, hand drawn typography to create the basis for the campaign handwriting. 3D props and lights were used in abundance to create theatre in windows and in store, whilst close, engaging photography helped capture the magic of Christmas across all channels.

NATS is the lead Air Navigation Service Provider in the UK, providing air traffic control services for more than 6,000 movements a day in the UK airspace and the North Atlantic.

Every Christmas, NATS produces a campaign that is communicated both internally and externally. This year we were appointed to develop their idea of ‘When I grow up…’ as the core video to this digital campaign. This concept brings to life the importance of Air Traffic Control at Christmas whilst highlighting the idea of future recruitment. The final cut is heart warming, light-hearted and educational.

GLOBAL PARTNER BRAND BOOK

Designers at heart, this was one of those briefs we loved receiving... to design a ‘stunning looking’ and informative brand book for prospective international partners and investors. The book showcased the FatFace brand personality through an array of beautiful lifestyle photography, whilst explaining the FatFace story/heritage, brand vision, product formula, customer profile, market positioning, retail footprint and multi-channel approach.
